MEMBERSHIPS OF SCIENTIFIC SOCIETIES
Member of the ACS, APS, EPS, SCI, ItPS.
SCIENTIFIC INTERESTS focus on peptides containing non-proteinogenic amino acids to explore their antimicrobial / antitumor activity and to study the mechanisms of interaction with biological membranes. Another relevant focus is the synthesis and conformational analysis of peptides with a rigid and well-defined three-dimensional structure to be used as spacers and templates.
The research activities are aimed at: i) understanding the structure/function relationship in bioactive peptides with antimicrobial and anticancer activities ii) elucidating the charge/electron transfer processes in proteins by use of model peptides with well-defined 3D-structure.
